Trying to integrate our personal and professional lives has always been challenging, and now that we have added a pandemic to the mix, it's starting to feel downright impossible sometimes.
Being a working parent has always been stressful, and that's never been more true than now. That's why I am excited to be participating as an expert in Answering Legal's Guide to Wellness.
Their audience is the legal community, so its directed to lawyers, but anyone who finds life to be stressful as we try to manage it all, especially while things keep changing so quickly, will benefit from this FREE wellness guide.
The entire guide is available here.
I write about combining Time Management and Mind Management in order to manage stress effectively. Here's an excerpt:
"Learning how to balance work and personal time is always one of the top challenges for new legal professionals. Attorney Jamie Spannhake, however, has never shied away from taking on more responsibility in her life."
"I was so busy that I felt overwhelmed and exhausted,” Spannhake said. “I wasn’t enjoying my life. That’s when I realized that time management tools alone are not sufficient for a successful and enjoyable life. I needed some kind of ‘mind management’ as well — a way to approach things differently to prevent losing my mind. That’s when I discovered mindfulness, meditation, and profound perspective shifts; I’d discovered a better way.”
"The lessons Spannhake has learned over the past decade are featured in her recently published book, The Lawyer, the Lion, & the Laundry: Three Hours to Finding Your Calm in the Chaos. In the book, she shares and guides readers through the choices, actions, and thoughts that have allowed her to enjoy life, even while dealing with numerous responsibilities."
"While the advice in Spannhake’s book should help readers with becoming a better boss, spouse, parent, and friend during this crisis, she reminds us that there’s another person readers should be looking out for in 2020."
“Be kind to yourself,” Spannhake said. “We are adjusting to a new normal in this world, and it keeps changing. Change is hard. Realizing how little control we have is hard. Do the best you can, be kind to yourself, and know that you can do hard things.”
