Calm in the Chaos - Tips for a Better Life
What Transitioning Out of the Law Looks Like with Former Lawyer Collab Member Jamie

As part of my journey to create a new career for myself where I can help others build a life that works for them, I knew that I needed to leave my law practice in order to have more time to focus on reaching out to, connecting with, writing about, and coaching others.
To facilitate the transition, I joined The Former Lawyer Collaborative with Sarah Cottrell. I wasn't a former lawyer yet. I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to be a former lawyer. But I knew I needed to make a big, scary change that would require courage and the support of others.
Now that I am well into my journey to making the transition to a full-time writer and coach, I had the opportunity to speak with Sarah for her podcast, The Former Lawyer Podcast.
We talk about why I went to law school, my various iterations of law practice, and how I'm implementing what I've learned in her collaborative.
We laugh about how going into the "abyss" of the unknown is particularly hard for us risk-averse lawyers.
We even discuss how the practice of law itself can be a "little t" traumatic experience, making leaving the law really difficult.
And we had a great time talking about it all in Episode 102 of the Former Lawyer Podcast: "What Transitioning Out of the Law Looks Like with Former Lawyer Collaborative Member Jamie."
You can listen to the 30-minute discussion here, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
