I was honored to be featured in Financevents online magazine for their celebration of women business leaders for International Women's Day last week. It gave me the opportunity to celebrate my mom, share my advice to women in male-dominated industries, and advise men in those industries how they can advocate for women. Financevents Interview in Celebration of International Women's Day!

Financevents Magazine asked to feature me last week as part of their focus on women business leaders for their celebration of International Women's Day on Monday, March 8. What an honor!

It was incredible to connect with editor Maja Säholm Westling, who is herself a woman business leader.

My favorite question to answer in the interview was this one:

Q3) Tell us about a time where you have used inspiration from another woman to motivate yourself?

A3) Just one?! There are so many women that have inspired and motivated me. The one closest to my heart is my mom. She has suffered with rheumatoid arthritis since she was 22 years old. There were times and days when she did not feel well enough to participate in activities with me, in particular times when her body didn’t want to be up and moving. Yet she never let her physical pain distract her from her singular focus of being a great mom. I remember she would take me shopping for back-to-school clothes, knowing that her feet and legs would be hurting so much it was hard to walk, and that it would take her several days to recover from all the walking. But she wanted to have that experience with me, so she did it anyway. She is the strongest woman I know. She taught me perseverance and that only we define our own limitations, not other people. She made me strong.

You may have heard me talk about my mom before. She is still persevering today, at the age of 83. It remains a struggle, but she keeps going. I am proud of her and proud to be her daughter. I love you mom!

I enjoyed all the questions and it was particularly meaningful to share my advice to women who work in male-dominated industries (like I do) and, even more imporantly, my advice to men in those same industries, as it relates to advocating for women.

You can read my answers to those questions and the entire interview here.
