About Jamie

Jamie Jackson Spannhake is an attorney, writer, and certified coach who helps professionals lead happier and healthier lives.

She graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School and received her certification as a health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. She clerked for the Honorable Joel F. Dubina of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She practiced law in BigLaw, then as a solo practitioner, and finally as a partner at a small Hudson Valley, NY firm, serving clients in Connecticut and New York. She practiced for 17 years in the areas of commercial litigation, estate planning, real estate, and business transactions.

Her writing has appeared in print and online, including at Attorney at Work and Health Food Radar, and in Law Practice magazine, GPSolo Magazine, and webzines Law Practice Today, The Complete Lawyer, and Electronically In Touch. She has also published in academic journals The Brooklyn Journal of International Law and The Cumberland Law Review.

She has presented programs for the ABA’s Lawyer Well-Being Week, the New York City Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Fordham Law School, Pace Law School, Winston & Strawn LLP, Duquesne Light Co., Lawyer Five-0, MassLOMAP, Lawline, and many other companies, firms, organizations, and events.

She regularly writes and speaks on issues important to women, lawyers, entrepreneurs, professionals, and business owners, including time and stress management, health and wellness, and work-life balance.

In addition to her professional life, she mothers a wonderful and happy 11-year-old daughter, successfully co-parents with her ex-husband, and loves a dog and two cats. Even with those responsibilities, she volunteers at her daughter’s school, regularly practices yoga and meditation, and plays tennis every week.

She is living the time of her life, without feeling exhausted or overwhelmed (though she sometimes has days when she is tired).
